Authorised market participant

An authorised market participant is a reliable partner in the field of goods logistics. Customs can grant special privileges to this person that contribute to a fast(er) processing of goods.

The difference between an authorised market participant and an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO)

There is no difference. In the European Union, the status of authorised market participant is called Authorised Economic Operator (AEO). This status is a global development initiated by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) in order to create safe good chains from the site where the goods are shipped up to the location where the goods are delivered.

Type of permits

The status of authorised market participant consists of three types of permits:

  • Authorised market participant – customs simplifications;
  • Authorised market participant – safety;
  • Authorised market participant – customs simplifications and safety.

Is this development also taking place in Caribbean Netherlands?

Douane Caribisch Nederland wants to contribute to developments in the field of authorised market participation. However, it is currently focussing on facilitating, inter alia, regular customs simplifications.

If you believe that the status of authorised market participant would help your company, for example, with the export of goods, please contact Douane Caribisch Nederland, Customer Service Department. You can find the details in the Contact section.
