A CRIB number is a unique, personal number for everyone registered with Belastingdienst Caribisch Nederland. The number is primarily intended for the communication between persons and government bodies. Examples are Belastingdienst Caribisch Nederland, the Public Entity, Social Affairs, or Study Financing. The use of a CRIB number allows for simple and correct processing of payments, for example.
What do you need it for?
You need a CRIB number when you communicate with Belastingdienst Caribisch Nederland, for example, when completing your income tax return. You must also list this number when making payments to Belastingdienst Caribisch Nederland. When you buy a car or motorcycle on Bonaire and want to register the registration plate with the Public Entity, you will also need a CRIB number. In addition, your (future) employer needs the CRIB numbers for its payroll records.
Privacy
The CRIB number allows the identification of specific persons based on data. For this reason, careless use of the CRIB number leads to privacy risks. For example, the abuse of personal data and identity fraud. Make sure to be careful when disclosing your CRIB number.
Keep it with care
Residents of Caribbean Netherlands between the ages of 15 and 65 have received a CRIB number from B/CN. If you have lost your CRIB number, you can pick up a CRIB statement at the desk of the Belastingdienst. You must bring an identity document.
