Activities in a TSW

Besides ‘regular’ storage, goods in a TSW may undergo various processing activities necessary for the benefit of international trade. Examples of processing activities are: processing, modifying, assembling, packaging, and exhibiting. This applies subject to the condition that Douane Caribisch Nederland must be able to monitor these activities administratively. This ensures it can keep an overview of the stored and removed goods.

Besides the storage and services mentioned above, other activities may take place in a TSW. This concerns the following in an international context:

  • trade activities;
  • trade-supporting activities;
  • other services.

that can be performed with or for the benefit of the electronic communication and information options.
Please note: the following services are not included:

  • financial services;
  • royalty payments;
  • insurance and re-insurance activities.

You can consult Article 5.2 of the BES Customs and Excise Duties Act for a precise description of the services permitted in a TSW. The services are exempt from GET levies based on the BES Tax Act.
