Registering as an employer

If you hire an employee for the first time, you must register as an employer with your tax offices. You must submit the New Employer Registration Form to your tax offices for this purpose. You will receive the Payroll Tax and Levies Manual after your registration. This Manual can also be downloaded from this site.

Starter kit and starting company manual

If you are not yet registered with the Tax and Customs Administration, you will also receive a starter kit. This kit includes a Starting Company Manual and a Starting Company Form. This starter kit also contains the employer registration for loonheffing form.

You can download the starter kit, or retrieve it from the tax offices or the Chamber of Commerce.

CRIB number

You will receive a CRIB number after your registration. You must always list this number on your correspondence with the Tax and Customs Administration.

The Tax and Customs Administration will issue new CRIB numbers as soon as possible after receiving your application. However, the Tax and Customs Administration requires all necessary details for this. You must use the starter forms set out above to provide the desired information.

Are you already registered as an entrepreneur, but are you hiring staff for the first time?

If you are already registered as an entrepreneur but hire staff for the first time, you must only use the “new employer registration” form.

Please note! You may have registered as an employer but not actually have any employees (yet). You will still be required to file your returns on time.

What if you are no longer employing any staff?

If you are no longer employing any staff, you must inform de Belastingdienst. De Belastingdienst will no longer send any loonheffing and levies returns to you. You will be required to inform de Belastingdienst once you hire staff again.
