Customs representative

The customs representative is a person who can represent another person when filing the customs declaration in a variety of ways.

Direct or indirect representation

The representation can be direct or indirect.

  • direct representation: in this situation, the representative acts in the name and for the account of another person;
  • indirect representation: in this situation, the representative acts in his own name, but for the account of another person.

A customs representative lives on Bonaire, Saba, or Saint Eustatius, or is established there. He must inform the inspector that he acts for the account of the represented person, and indicate whether this concerns direct or indirect representation. As a rule, this declaration will be captured on the return.

The customs representative does not have any special rights in relation to the person represented by him if the latter experiences bankruptcy.
